Federal Regulations

Federal regulations dictate that all FFL Dealers maintain form 4473’s and their Acquisitions & Depositions books for 20 years. Please be aware of the following:

      • The dealer that completes your firearms transfer will be the one to actually maintain these items for their records.
      • When we ship firearms to other FFLs, an entry is made into our Acquisitions & Depositions Book.  This entry contains the information of the dealer that we are shipping your firearm(s) to, not the customer.
      • If we accept a transfer of a firearm on your behalf, we are required to complete the 4473 with you and enter your information into our Acquisition & Depositions book. This information will then be stored at our offices for 20 years.
      • Should Western Mountain Sports discontinue our FFL Dealer status, all records of firearms transfers must be sent to the ATF.
